Welcome to Week 18!  January 4-8, 2010
"Spiritual Gifts of Love For Jesus"

Like the Wise Men we celebrate this week, OLGC MS will also be bringing gifts to Jesus.  Unlike the tangible presents given by the Wise Men, however, our gifts will instead be spiritual acts of love.

This week you will decide on a spiritual gift of love to give Jesus.  A spiritual gift of love is a decision/action that demonstrates your love for Jesus, family or neighbor.  Some examples of spiritual gifts of love are:

-setting aside a special time every day to pray for a sick friend
-writing a poem of love to Jesus/Mary
-completing chores with a positive, upbeat attitude and without being asked by your parents
-helping a sibling by doing his chore(s) without him knowing
-pray a decade of the Rosary nightly for the deceased
-memorize a new prayer or scripture verse & recite it daily

There are many other spiritual gifts of love you can do...the list is endless!  The main guideline to keep in mind is that the gift is an act of service or love, so you should not be doing it in expectation of receiving a reward.  It should also be SPECIFIC, so that it's do-able and you can form of plan to accomplish it by Friday.

FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 8th
Each student will turn in a typed 1-pg write-up describing the spiritual gift of love he/she gave this week.  The paper should follow these guidelines:

*Typed, w/ full heading
*At least 100 words
*Font adjusted to fit and fill 1 page
*Answers the questions: Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?
I. What was your spiritual gift of love to Jesus this week?
II. Why did you choose this particular gift of love for Jesus?
III. For whom was it performed? (Jesus Himself, a family member, neighbor, etc)
IV. How, specifically, did you carry this act of love out?
-Where did you perform your spiritual gift?
-When or how often did you perform your gift of love? (daily vs. one major act of service, etc.)

You may use any color or type of font of you wish, but it must be legible and fitted to 1 page.
